Vaginal Pain and dotted bleeding

I recently had protected sex for the 3rd time and one day later, while urinating, I began experiencing a pain which last for 20 seconds approximately. It feels like when you need to urinate and you keep it to the point where it hurts, this is the exact pain felt. Another day later, I observed a tiny blood clot. I am really concerned. Can you give me an idea as to what is causing this?

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Well, the pain could be due to the clot obstructing the urinary passage. This could be due to UTI or maybe a stone in the urinary passage.
The other possibility is that the hymen did not rupture properly earlier and ruptured completely with pain when you urinated. The clot could be from bleeding from the ruptured hymen.
Along with this pain and clot, if the symptoms persist of pain, burning urine, increase frequency of urine etc, then you would need to consult your PCP or urologist. It could be a UTI, which is common when you are new to sex.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your Gynecologist once. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Hi,

Pain while urinating is seen after sex for the first few times. This is generally referred to as honeymoon cystitis. This may sometimes cause a small amount of bleeding also. There may also be burning sensation, cloudy urine, and increased frequency of urinating. This happens because of prolonged sex which causes irritation to the urethra, urethritis.

This can be diagnosed by a simple urine test and antibiotics and analgesics are prescribed.
