Vomiting sore throat chills constant ear pain for over a month

Hello my father has been to 2 doctors and the emergency room for 12 hours with elevated high blood cells count being the only diagnosis at this point. Vomiting everything he eats, diarrhea, constant ear and throat pain, chills, fatigue and overall completely miserable for someone who lives a very busy life. Was told he has lost 20 lbs in 4 weeks has done a round of antibiotics and steroids and is still not feeling any better. CT scan showed nothing and a series of blood test only shows the elevated white blood cell count. Looking for any advice as to what we can do or ask at the next doctor visit
