I have lost nearly 50lbs in 1 year what could cause this?

I am 40 years old and I have a couple boils under my left arm, one in the centre of my back on my spine, and one on my left buttock. All seem to be infected and unexplained these coupled with losing a bunch of weight (went from 240 to nearly 180 in a year) without trying has me a bit concerned, I am not sexually active do suffer from asthma as well as PTSD and depression and am really at a loss with this

I was diagnosed with a staph infection and  the weight loss has been explained as having to do with  an extremely busy and labor intensive work schedule, light eating, and high metabolism I’m apparently burning more then I’m taking in my Dr. Isn’t concerned about it

Any unexplained weight loss like that should be discussed with a doctor.  Do you have a physical every year?  I'm guessing not but now is the time!  Have those boils looked at. I'm sorry I don't have more info for you but it is really something you need to be seen for.  I personally would like to lose a bit of weight . . . but when it just happens like that, it can be worrisome. So, see a doctor and please let me know.

Some possibilities include diabetes, celiac disease, nutritional or metabolic issues, heart failure, cancer, depression, hyper thyroidism, etc. Without anymore information, it is hard to say so get checked out and let us know!
