Why am I suffering with mucus and nasal congestion for almost a year now?

I'm a 32 year old woman and for the past year I've had issues breathing normally through my nose throughout the day and night. At night when I lie down it's worse. The blockage alternates from left to right and seems to be producing a nasal drip although I can't feel it. My throat is often full of thick mucus that water doesn't seem to help. I have no history of allergies or sinuses. I've been to an ENT and they are saying my turbinates are enlarged. Of course no reason why. I feel ill a lot of the time. Persistent headaches, body aches, spasms in my abdominal region. I don't know what to eat that will allow me to keep a healthy weight and eliminate the mucus and doctors are telling me everything is A-ok. There is also strong burping anytime I eat. They sound like they're coming from the bowels of earth. Every scratch leaves a mark instead of healing and disappearing. Also I've had 3 abnormal paps and an abnormal coposcopy. My obgyn says my body isn't fighting off a common virus, but my primary care is telling me that everything is fine. Wasting thousands on docs and no answers. Please help if you can.

You may have two seemingly separate issues, however could be connected.
1. The cause of  your suspected cervical dysplasia, could be-at least in part- linked to long-term use of hormonal contraceptives. ( excessive progesterone could one of the culprits)
You must press your ObGyn to investigate the cause(s)
thoroughly.
Hormonal contraceptives have been linked also to enlarged turbinates and the resulting complications (which may explain some of your symptoms) !
Press the ENT to look into it.
2. A possible causative factor which should be investigated is low gastric acid levels, possibly resulting in partially digested foods, deficiencies, bacterial and fungal overgrowth, belching & burping, parasites, leaky gut, allergies (end result), etc.
To self-test take Betaine HCL with pepsin as per label, but adjust dose according to body size and meals.
Proteins require more to breakdown and so do larger meals. Small meals, vegetarian, salads, naturally require much less, so use your own judgement.
If after a few days if you feel consistently better, you know you have low gastric acid.
A Gastro may not be your best choice to help you,
should s/he not be open to these suspicions, since conventional medicine does not follow an algorithm
which is consistent with the above pathways.

My suggestion would be to seek a reputable Functional Medicine Doctor to help you.

Conventional medicine protocols are often flawed and specialists do not easily converge and co-operate.
Ent, Obgyn, Gastro, Allergist...I can't see it working well for you.

Best wishes,
Niko
