Why do I get unexplained chills?

Some people will recognize this immediately. This isn't a new topic. There are blogs going back 10-15 yrs. I have read many of them. There have been many suggestions. Some very valid. In my case and apparently many others none of those suggestions were useful. I'm 47, male, married with kids. Normal, stressful life. I'm healthy with a few ups and downs. Slightly high blood pressure which I am on meds for. About 3 drinks a week, occasional joint or 2. Eat healthier than most people with of course the occasional slip ups. Heavier than I should be but had the chills even when I was lighter. Only get them at night. Usually when I am fatigued. Sometimes with sweats, sometimes not. Wearing a hat helps as well as warm clothes. I can tell when its coming on. My hands will feel cold, my back gets achy and then a cool breeze blows my way, bam, chills on. It can be a beautiful summer night. Winter time I am so bundled up people think I'm crazy. I've been to doctors, run blood tests, checked environmental elements. Taken vitamins. This has been going on for about 30 yrs. Judging from the blogs no one has come up with an answer. I may never find out. If anyone has anything useful I'd love to hear about it. One good thing I learned about reading the blogs is that I am not alone. There are lots of people with this problem.

Just joining the club: I get this too. I can't sleep because I feel uncontrollable chills. Have to put on another blanket or turn the AC down. I will say I've felt it more as I've got older (I'm nowhere near menopause though).

Well, this is probably not going to be helpful but it sounds similar to what I experience when having a night time hot flash.  Of course, I'm a peri menopausal woman . . .  but could hormones be involved?  Thyroid?  Have you had either of those checked?
