Why does my toe pop when I move it and lock up slightly?

About 3 days ago, I’ve noticed that when I move my toe forward it feels like it pops out of place and then locks forward. When I move it backwards it pops again and goes back to its previous position. It doesn’t really hurt, but it is very uncomfortable. It seems similar to how people with double joints can pop their joints, but mine locks up.

If you are dislocating the joint, that would explain the locking..it could be you have loose ligaments/tendons that are contributing to this.
