I have had pain in my left shoulder blade area for almost a year now. It's made worse by use. Simple activities, like folding a load of laundry, will make it worse. It usually feels better when I wake up, but is set off by almost any activity. It's extremely tender if I apply pressure to the area, but it also feels good. My GP said it was a strained rhomboid. The excersizes she gave me to do made it hurt to the point of tears. My aunt suggested seeing an Osteopathic Doctor. An X-Ray, an upper back MRI, a neck MRI and 2 months of physical and massage therapy twice a week gave me no answers and no real relief. The PT and massage therapy, which was done in the same visit only gave me some relief for the next day. My question is this: Is there a certain specialist I should see? Is there anything specific I should bring up with my doctor that could lead to answers? Does anyone have suggestions on possible causes? I need answers, but I can't spend a fortune going from Doctor to Doctor who run test after test with no conclusion.
If it is relevant, so far blood tests are normal, I have Interstitial Cystitis, fibromyalgia (this is not a normal symptom of fibro for me as this one place has hurt for so long). I had bacterial meningitis 21 years ago.
