astigmatism after cataract surgery

My astigmatism was-.50 before cataract surgery and one month later it is -1.75 and i have 1+ posterior capsular opacity. Eye doc just gave me a new prescription and said to come back in 6 months. Could the astigmatism be corrected with yag surgery. Is this a normal occurence?

I think your best bet would be to question your ophthalmologist about all this, especially about the "normal occurrence" aspect of your question.  I'm sure that if it were however, that any consent for surgery you signed would have it listed on there as a possible risk.  Good luck!
