Hi
Thanks for keeping me posted!
Your husband does need a dose adjustment for sodium. Since he is diabetic too his kidney function too needs to be evaluated. Normal levels are 135-145 mEq/L. Maybe you can reduce the salt in his diet and see. However please do this under medical supervision.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
His sodium was 123 before they put him in the hospital his sugar was in the 200-300 range and he was dehydrated .he could not eat from the sores in his mouth . when he left the hospital his sodium was 127 and thats when they put him on the daily salt pill plus extra salt in his food plus a fluid restriction of 1000 ml a day .He also got put on novolog instead of metformin. I think its a little bit of overkill on the sodium but I am not in the medical field .
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
This looks like sodium causing water retention. How low was the sodium? This would need a dose adjustment for sodium. Also kidney function tests should be carried out.
