Light-headedness and Gas pressure

I have been having a number of health problems for three months, including shooting nerve impulses, occasional muscle spasms, tendonitis, and vision disturbances (blurry vision, conjunctivitis, and dry eye). The worst symptom right now, though, is that when I eat anything or drink any liquid, I will feel light-headedness, headaches, and have a lot of gas pressure. I am avoiding high gas-producing foods like cabbage, cauliflower, beans, etc. I am also avoiding fats, because they seem to be major triggers. Whenever I feel like I need to have a bowel movement, I get very light-headed also. I am being evaluated for celiac disease even though I gave up gluten 5 years ago (I did have small amounts of gluten 3 months ago). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to manage these symptoms? I am at the point where i am starting to curtail the amount of food and water I can eat because it is causing serious discomfort and I feel like I am going to faint. Also, I am starting to lose weight, mostly because eating has become so difficult. Please help!

Satish Raj says

"Patients with POTS demonstrate a heart rate increase of ≥30 bpm with prolonged standing (5-30 minutes)"

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1501099/pdf/ipej060084-00.pdf

I will feel dizzy when I stand up and have over 30 beats tachycardia for the first 2 minutes, but then it starts dropping below the 30 extra beats after that. Does this mean that I do not have POTS?

Thank you all for your suggestions so far. I started to notice that the lightheadedness also happens when I stand up after lying down. At first I thought it might be orthostatic hypotension and I started taking my blood pressure when I got up. I will be very dizzy, but the blood pressure does not drop. The pulse, however, goes up immediately. On the three times I checked it, my pulse went up 32 beats, 38 beats, and 46 beats. The blood pressure actually goes up slightly. After doing some research I am starting to wonder if I have POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). Does anyone know much about whether this condition could be causing my symptoms? I was wondering if the gas problems were due to delayed gastric emptying? I read somewhere that that goes along with POTS...

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
You could be suffering from an inflammatory bowel condition such as Celiac Disease/Ulcerative Colitis/Irritable Bowel Syndrome/ Crohn’s disease. Of these probably celiac disease is ruled out as you gave up gluten, unless there is hidden gluten in any food item you consume. Problems of gall bladder and liver or that of pancreas too cannot be ignored. Possibility of H pylori infection should be looked into by carbon urea breath test.
Along with this you could be suffering from low Vit B12 and iron due to poor absorption from gut.
Please discuss this with a gastroenterologist. Take care!
