lung or heart issues?

I had a lung function test done a few months ago and it was discovered that my lungs diffuse oxygen to the rest of my body at a rate of 58% my doctor hasnt really listened to me much the past year or so and says I am basically immune to anything being wrong with me cuz Im only 29 and am thin not overweight...he said the test results were likely just a fluke in the test and has not investigated further! My problem lately has been that Ive been yawning a lot for about a month straight now and the past few days have even had sharp pains that last only a few seconds (but occur randomly every few minutes) at least once in a 10 minute period. Now Ive heard that people yawn when they dont get enough oxygen to the body (which would be understandable if my results from the lung function test were what they were) Im really worried something is wrong with either my lungs or my heart but my Dr doesnt want to investigate any further! Im a single mom of 2 kids under the age of 5 yrs and really dont want anything bad to happen to me especially if it can be prevented. Can anyone help me, what might this be?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Chronic yawning can be the first sign of a vasovagal attack. The complex group of symptoms are mediated by the vagus nerve. This nerve is irritated by prolonged standing, standing up suddenly, stress, pain, hunger, dehydration, intense emotion etc.  A tilt table test, holter monitor, echocardiogram etc are done for confirmed diagnosis.
It can also be a sign of sleep deprivation, improper sleep pattern, sleep apnea or nasal blockage. It could also be a sign of depression.
Electrolyte imbalance in the blood due to any cause like vomiting, diarrhea, kidney problems etc can cause this. Anemia too could be the cause. Chronic obstructive lung diseases like asthma too could be a cause.
On a more serious note, chronic yawning can be a sign of a brain problem like multiple sclerosis, progressive supranuclear palsy, opiate withdrawal, epilepsy,  Parkinson’s disease, infection in brain or even brain tumor.
This is not something you can ignore. Do discuss this with your doctor (another one if you do not get help here) and get yourself examined. Take care!

thanks so much for your answers I am waiting to get into my doctor for an appointment, recently I've started feeling really tired no matter the amount of sleep I get, I have very low energy and am starting to get weak spells (even while sitting or lying down at times) Im wondering if any of the problems you listed above might have these symptoms as well? or could it be something completely different?
