sore testicles,

Hi  all,
Have been having a problem with sore etsticles. I am 51yrs, and a runner. After a run about four weeks ago, I woke up with a soreness in my testicles, and a bit in my abdomn and inner thighs. I thought I strained something. The Testicle soreness hung on for a week or so, so I went to the Doctor, who gave me a HANDS ON examine (!) and declare he thought it is a "pulled or twisted ligament" that would take quite a while to heal. Since then in the last 3 weeks, it will get better to the point that I think it is gone, and then I will go and run, or rake leaves, or climb 6 flights of stairs, or have sex, and bang, the soreness is back. Does this make sense to anyone out there?? I guess I am freaked out about it because of where it is, which, of course, is a very sensitve area. Has any one had similar experiences???
thanks,
Paul

Hello,

Testicular pain can be due to injury, infection (Epididymitis or Orchitis) or inflammation, testicular torsion( most common in young men), excessive bicycle riding, hernia, varicocele or kidney or ureteric stones.

As there is no swelling or inflammation or redness of the scrotal sacs, so the chances of epidiymitis or orchitis are rare. In cases of hernia, a prominent bulge along with testicular pain is there and in cases of kidney or ureteric stones, pain during micturition may also be there.

Lab investigations like complete blood examination, urine examination, ultrasound lower abdomen and sometimes a urethral swab will help in diagnosis. Treatment will be started thereafter. My advise would be to consult a urologist.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted.

Just to add on real quick, I have no problem urinating, and there is no blood in my urine or semen. And if "things" don't get postioned just right when I sit down in a chair, I make "adjustments" and that seems to relieve some of the discomfort.
I know the condition may not sound like much to some, but I already suffer from Panic and anxiety attacks for which I take medication, and this really has me freaked.
Thanks for ANY help/info/encouragement!!!!
