Unexplained Thigh Bruising

I have very large bruises on my thighs that are black. They start with an itch. My dr. did some blood work and says she need to speak with me right away but I am unable to get into her office for a day due to work. I am freaking out. She says my white count is extremely elevated. Any idea what it could be?

I am almost 37 years old and I have also been experiencing bruising only on my thighs.  This started about 4 years ago, comes and goes but lately its been at its worst.  I have gone to an allergist who says its vasculitis.  I can feel the bruises coming with an itching sensation, a burning sensation and then a large bruise appears in red, black and blue.  They are painful to the touch but otherwise don't hurt, they are just ugly to look at!  I have lost a little weight in the last 6 months, about 5 pounds, I am only 4'11" so that is kind of signifigant.  I am often fatigued and this is all becoming  a huge concern for me.  Any opinions would be helpful.  Thanx.

Many, many things can elevate your white count.  But yes I do believe (I'm not a doctor) that elevated white count and significant bruising can indicate leukemia.  do you also experience fatigue, loss of appetite or unexpected weight loss, or night sweats or excessive sweating, those are other signs to look for.

Best of luck.  Please keep us posted.
