vaginal problem

hi im 29 female, i started seeing someone about three weeks ago and the sex was great, but about a week ago we had sex the day before my period and the next day i was super tender. then my period came and the pain got worse. small red bump appeared on the lips of my vagina and on the inside too. then it got really itchy and after three day's of being in discomfort i went to see the doctor. he suspects herpes but i really hope not, he prescribed me medication for herpes and ive been taking it. but i started noticing the small bumps go away but discharge that looks like there is blood in it appeared. here are my symptoms
-red bumps
-swollen vagina
-red/orange discharge
-tender/itchy
-hurts to urinate
-swollen uterus

i asked the guy i am seeing but he says he doesn't feel a thing, he is not sore or tender in any way.
anyone who can help me would be great this is freaking me out

This very same problem happened to me, and I'm sorry to say it was herpes 2.  My partner acknowledged that he did have it, so at least I didn't feel like I was going crazy, but it still sucked.  All of your symptoms match the symptoms I had.  The only good thing I can tell you right now is that you will feel normal again.  I've dealt with genital herpes for the past 20 years, and each year my flair ups decrease.  It only appears about 2-3 times/year now, and almost always right before my period, or if I'm really stressed out.  In the beginning, it flared up closer to 6-8 times/year.
I took Valtrex, occasionally, but it made my stomach hurt, so I just let it run it's course now.
I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.  Go get a second opinion if you think it's something else.  If it is, stay healthy, try to keep stress low and deal with it when it comes up.  Oh, and always protect a sexual partner so what happened to you, won't happen to someone else.
Good luck!
