what could it be?

After rigorous walking, a splotchy red "rash" appears on the front of my lower legs.  Sometimes on both - sometimes just on one.  It looks more like broken blood vessels than an actual "rash".  Once when walking for miles while wearing jeans, the "rash" appeared on the front of my legs and a swollen blister-like rash appeared simultaneously behing my knees.  The splotchy rash is not painful and is not accompained by swelling, but, the blistering rash behind my knees was quite painful and the skin was entirely covered with the blisters and the area was very swollen.  Any ideas?  I only get the blotchy rash after strenuous walking and usually in warm weather.

This discussion is related to red rash on lower legs.

It could also be friction due to your clothing.
The rash could just be due to blood vessels dilating in the heat.
I sometimes get a splotchy rash-like thing on my stomach, etc when showering.

Thank you so much for replying to my post.  I am hoping that you are all right and that it is not some sort of blood or vessel issue.  I really don't feel that it is related to any sort of clotting thing as it has been occuring at random times over the last 10 or so years.  I do feel that you are all right about the blistering rash being something fungal or caused by fabric rubbing on the skin.  Thanks again, to all of you, for your support!

I bet it is a type of fungal rash from the sweat. Make sure your clothes are washed every time you wear them. I have heard of this before so you are not alone.

My husband got the same thing!! It is from the sweat and your clothing rubbing when you were moving around!! The dr just gave my husband a cream to put on and it went away!! But i does come back around every summer!!
