So frustrated! Healthy 23 year old female who had gotten a UTI when I was much younger in high school. Woke up one morning after having sex with my boyfriend, and noticed I was peeing frequently. I began to think this was the beginning of a UTI, so I drank tons of water and took an out home test. The test showed "Leukocytes" but no "nitrites", so I went to the GP to get an actual diagnosis. He said the dip stick showed it COULD be a UTI, prescribed me microbic, and sent my urine out for a urinalysis. After finishing my microbic, I called back saying I still have the constant urge to urinate, sometimes with little to no urine coming out, and he told me my urine was fine and to see a urologist or gyno. Two weeks later, I then went to the gyno, where she did her own urinalysis, and a full STD test (including chlamydia and trich), and gave me bactrim to try in the meantime. After three days on bactrim DS, she called and told me to stop, because my urine was completely fine and my STD test was all negative. Essentially, there is nothing wrong with me. She said its possible the leukocytes were from not doing a proper "catch" at the original doctors office. However, I am still constantly having the urge to urinate, but it seems to come and go throughout the day. I do have slight muscle spasms, and the only time the urgency subsided was taking the AZO pills, but I can't do that forever. Does anyone have a similar experience? She told me if it persists to come back, and she will refer me to a urologist, but said to stay hydrated and give it time. What gives?
