Anal intercourse is not usually listed as a cause of fecal incontinence. Some older studies did suggest that fecal incontinence was higher in gay men but are not considered well designed studies. There are mixed opinions without a definitive answer regarding this subject. The evidence I am aware of does not show a significant increase in fecal incontinence with anal intercourse in men. This topic has not been well studied in women. J. Kyle Mathews, MD
