I hear ya... I've been on .4 Flomax since January and its hard to get off of it. It basically tells the bladder neck muscles = "ok we are going to do your job now, take a break"... so to speak.. but when you stop it seems neither the muscles or the drug obviously are doing the job and they tighten back up and I get he urine retention again... Its very frustrating because I was doing exceptionally well before trying to stop. Everyone everywhere says to "wean off of Flomax or cut back the dose. I understand BUT how do you cut down the dosage if you are already on the lowest strength and it says everywhere to not cut them open.. Its kind of weird because I had an MRI done in February and the dimensions of my prostate are 4.7 x 3.8 x 3.3 cm with a calculated volume of 32 ml, so it doesn't seem to be as bad as some I hear about, but that middle number is width and that is pushing against the bladder and urethra.. I take organic pumpkin seed oil, saw palmetto, pygeum and stinging nettle root to help stop the conversion of testoserone to DHT. and slowly shrink the prostate. I would advise looking into that immediately so it doesn't continue to get enlarged at he very least.. Eat a lot of healthy fats (omegas) that the prostate like s too.. I ordered this "Thermobalancing" belt recently that is supposed to shrink the prostate in about 6 months... Big in Europ but not in the US of course since our health care system is literally a for - profit business (thanks to Richard Nixon - look it up) here is the belt if you are interested = https://finetreatment.com/bph-treatment-prostate-enlargement/ here is a pub med medical journal backing up its effectiveness = https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26571324/ Good luck my friend... its frustrating as s__t but don't give up and do your own research.. There way more things to do beside Proscar and horrible surgeries that destroy men. Blessings, Mr. B
Prostatitis and BPH are similar. How and when were you diagnosed with each?
I'm not here to convince you to take Flomax - that's a decision only you can make. I just want to make sure you have all the information. Depending on the dose, either .4 mg or .8 mg, only 8.4% and 18/1%, respectively, of men experienced any ejaculation issues. Again, depending on the dose, 14.9% and 17.1% experienced dizziness, respectively. http://products.sanofi.us/flomax/flomax.pdf (Click on prescribing information at the top.)
Those are real concerns, though. My dad took Flomax, and definitely had the dizziness issue, which is a result of blood pressure changes. He was 30+ years older than you, and had prostate cancer, so your experience may be very different.
I don't know if you have prostatitis or BPH, or both - https://www.healthline.com/health/enlarged-prostate/prostatitis-and-bph That's up to the doctors. Has anyone been able to examine you or do any blood work or anything?
A lot of men here have reported improvements in chronic prostatitis by stopping caffeine. That seems to make the most difference. It isn't a cure, but it can help.
