Hernia and pain with intercource after surgery

My boyfriend had hernia surgery over 2 years ago, since the surgery he has a lot of pain during and after sex. It is to the point he doesn't want to get off, because that is when it hurts the worst. Is there something he can do to correct this problem.

He should make an appointment and return to his doctor that did the hernia surgery so that a medical solution can be found, since the pain is not clearing up on its own after two years.

Sure he can try to go back to the surgeon that did the surgery, I did twice. Right after, then 14 months after. After the second time I made my appointment he cancelled it, my primary care doctor called them saying he had to see me. Then when I got there he examined me saying," the hernia had not returned I did my job, DO not come back period". It's been 8 years. I've seen every specialist in the book.  I know what it's like to live with pain from hernia surgery, it's my life now.

I am female so am not sure if our pain is the same, mine is from nerve damage done from a hernia repair. They gave me a topamax it works as a pain management pill and it stops the nerves from snappsing (being so sensitive).  They could also try a nerve block in the back which would elevate all meds and just block the source of the pain.
So yes the topamax has its drawbacks as it works all over your body, and nerve block can pinpoint were they block.  But I've been taking it so long you learn to adjust.  I can't remember if it made it harder to achieve completion.
