Why do I have left kidney pain?

So I’ve had it on and off before, and only February 2018 I was in hospital for 9 days and they suspected a stone but couldn’t find one. Then one night I went to the toilet in hospital and passed blood and the pain had gone. So I suspected it was just a tiny kidney stone. And now March 2018 I’m laid up in bed in agony with the same pain but this time the pain gets worse with every breath. I just need an answer, I am at my wits ends.
