Post Urethroplasty Scrotum and Testicle Pain?

It's been more than 10 weeks since my successful end-to-end urethroplasty to remove a stricture (less than 1 cm). Flow is still excellent but pain in the testicles and scrotum, as well as swelling between the perineum and urethra remains. I saw my doctor (who assisted with the surgery) 2 weeks ago about the pain and he said it was nut uncommon and could actually take up to a year for things to heal up.

I wanted to get another opinion about the duration of this scrotal and testicular pain and its duration. Is it really possible that this could last a year?

The scrotal pain feels like a surface pain - a burning and occasionally "pins-and-needles" feeling. The testicle pain is mainly confined to the left testicle, and the pain seems to be on the back side of it (where the epiditymis is?), but is more of an aching than a burning.

I have no temperature/fever. Urination is excellent. Sexual function seems mainly normal, though ejaculation seems to produce less fluid, and it seems to come out after orgasm, rather than during.

One other - possibly unrelated to this pain - is that I have an inguinal hernia. Apparently this happened 6 months prior to the surgery and went undiagnosed, as I thought it (the bulge) was just related to my suprapubic catheter. I never had scrotal/testicle pain until after the surgery though.

I'd be grateful for any thoughts on this. Thanks!

Ken

I had my inguinal hernia surgery 1 week ago. I still have some pain in the scrotum/testicles. But it turned out that a lot of my discomfort, at least in the perineum, was due to hemorrhoids of all things! It turns out that sitting on a donut pillow was making my hemorrhoids a lot worse. It will take a few more weeks to discern whether the hernia surgery will help the remainder of my pain.

Thanks again.

Thank you very much for that reply. I actually just had the ultrasound of the scrotum/testicles 2 days ago. I see my doctor tomorrow and will hopefully get some news about why I have this testicle pain.

I'll report back when I know more. I am having open surgery the day after to repair the hernia.

Thanks again.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The pins and needles sensations can be due to nerve compression during surgery but the testicular pain can be due to the inguinal hernia also. You should get it evaluated from your surgeon and get an ultrasound testicles done to confirm the diagnosis.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
