UTI

Hi
My 5 month old boy had fever 20 days ago, which lasted for 4 days.went to doctor,he told us to give him tylenol..his fever went off and had it again after 14 days.his feets, lips and fingers turned blue.We took him to emergency and UTI was detected there,he was hospitalised for 5 days and was on iv,his ultrasound came normal and now  he is on oral antibiotics which needs to be continued for 7 weeks or till the time VCUG is done,he didnt have fever since then. His VCUG is scheduled for 4 dec...but i m really worried and heard that 60-70% of UTI infected babies have positive results in VCUG.because of which babies have to b on antiobiotics for years or have to go thru surgery. Can anyone please tell me that is it true?

Hello bhawana,

In urology, a voiding cystourethrogram, is a technique for watching a person's urethra and urinary bladder while the person urinates (voids). This would be helpful to understand the damage if any done by the urinary tract infection. Do not worry the results of the investigation would help determine the next line of action better.
