Urethritis should I take another antibiotic

A few weeks ago I started having itching at the of my urethra. Then I started peeing frequently. I took a 10 panel 2 and half weeks after a possible exposure.  I tested negative everything.

I was still feeling paranoid so I called a phone doc. They prescribed me suprax and azithromycin. I took both of these one time doses as instructed.

I waited two weeks and still had an itching feeling and needed to pee alot. I went to my general practioner. He prescribed me 500mg keflex 4 times a day for 7 days. Two days of tinadazole and told me after completing these doses to take flucanazole for two days.

After taking the meds my symptoms were relieved practically the next day. Though sometimes I still get a subtle symptom recurring. I complete my last keflex pill tomorrow.

My only symptoms were peeing alot and itching at the tip of my urethra when i needed to pee.

I purchased some doxcycline 100mg 20 pills and im considering taking those twice a day, would it be ok to do this? Or should I wait longer?

Do not just take medication on your own.  You are overdoing it.  If you had a UTI, your doctor would find bacteria in a specimen test (pee test).  And std' are easy to test for.  You are on medication and improving.  Doxy can have side effects and self treating is over the top.  Your doctors may just be prescribing things to appease you because your anxiety makes you very forceful and difficult to calm down. Keep that in mind. Overdoing it with antibiotics can have repercussions too.  So, hopefully you are better by now!

I agree 100% w/ GR’s advice - never a good idea to self-medicate. You may do more harm than good. This advice goes for all readers, regardless of your medical issue. Sometimes someone will have an illness & get a Dr’s Rx, then a few months later they have what they think is the same thing & decide to start taking some of their leftover meds from last time. Not a good idea - it may seem like the same illness, but if it’s not, the antibiotics might be useless, and what’s worse is, using antibiotics when they’re not called for causes many bacteria to become resistant & then would become much harder to treat later on. If you feel you’re not getting better, talk to your Dr...
