Grannmomm,
I wanted to add something here. The pelvic pain PT above is one who has personally helped me a great deal. I sent you a private message and sent this post to her.
I had very very difficult births with my last two children over 14 and 16 years ago.
My pelvic bone was separated and my tail bone broken.
I lived with a lot of pelvic pain, then found out I had Interstitial Cystitis. All the doctors
assured me all of that had healed and there was nothing related to those births etc.
I also had pelvic surgery at 16. I got a referral to the Pelvic Pain PT above, since
a CT scan showed Pelvic Congestions syndrome also and my doctors wanted to do a hysterectomy. I can honestly tell you that she was able to find more and help more
then anyone ever had. She was able to break up the adhesions manually, relax muscles that had hardened and were having spasms etc. I was also able to avoid a
hysterectomy. I can tell you that there is nothing like a trained pelvic pain physical therapist, and I highly recommend anyone having long term pelvic issues to start
with a pelvic pain evaluation.
We do not have insurance but I can still say it was money very well spent in my care
and long term treatment.
We all hope that your granddaughter will heals completely! If you have any questions down the road you can send contact me for a national pelvic pain org,, that might have a pelvic pain specialist near you.
Please keep us posted!

Hi,
Sorry to hear about this terrible accident. I am a physical therapist specializing in pelvic floor disorders. It is always very difficult to predict what long term prognosis there is this close after surgery. First of all your daughter is going to need time to heal, so for the first 6-8 weeks after surgery she is not to do anything unless what is recommended by her physician. After 8 weeks I would assess what difficulty she has. It may be very possible that she has no trouble. Tissues in young people heal better than tissues in us older people. If she does have any issues related to her injury and surgery (pain, incontinence etc.) than before doing anything like having another surgery I would ask for a referral to a pelvic floor therapist. These are physical therapist's specializing in that area of the body, they can help a lot of problems without surgery.
Hopefully she will just heal great and have no further problems. I wish her good luck.
Hello,
I am very sorry to hear that.In such crushed groin injuries, the future perspective depends on the extent of injury. As you have mentioned, that the urethra and most of the genital system has been injured ,so surgical repair is the only answer. She may have formation of strictures in urethra, problems in urination, conception and adhesion formation etc.It will all depend on the extent of injury to the organs.
Hope it helps. Take care and regards.
