Twitching behind the testicles

For a couple months now, I have had some issues with the area behind my testicles and in front of the anus. There is a muscle there, I am not sure the exact name, but it twitches every so often, about once very 2-3 minutes. I notice it more when I am relaxed, laying down or on the sitting in a chair. It doesnt seem to occur while at work, but it does happen in school. It only lasts for about 1-2 seconds, and it is not painful. It feels like a normal muscle  twitch, just behind the testicles. I have felt it while it has happened and it feels like strips of the muscle tighten up and relaxes rapidly.

It doesn't seem to effect my masturbation. I am 17 and I masturbate regularly (once a day). Perhaps that may be the issue?

I am curious as to what it may be. I am kinda embarrassed about telling my parents, that is why I came here.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Vanessa.

I am actually a competitive swimmer. I am currently at rest, not swimming often (under 1000 yards a week). When it started, I was not swimming either. I am a lifeguard at the YMCA where I live, but I do not think the contractions could have started there.

However, I do remember a kick to that area that may have caused it. I didnt hurt that bad, nor did I think it would cause any long term damage. I have been hit there much harder before and recovered with no problems.

I will try to get up and walk around every so often, knowing that it isnt urgent, I feel a lot better.

Thanks again!

Jon

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

This does not sound very urgent. This spasmic sensation may be due to a muscle contraction. If there is no associated pain, redness or swelling in the area then I do not think this requires immediate intervention.

I suggest that you try to avoid prolonged sitting and try to engage in low impact exercises like swimming and brisk walking. Do you join contact sports or other strenuous activities which could have caused your condition?

If this sensation persists you may seek consult with your primary physician so that an appropriate referral may be given.
