urethra discomfort, UTI?

I am a 17 year old male and in the past few days i have developed a slight discomfort in my urethra accompanied by the constant urge to pee. I have yet to see a doctor about this issue but am seeing one soon. Its been 2 days since ive developed this problem and tend to worry about these sorts of things ALOT. I am not sexual active and was just wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a UTI or something else and how long it will take to go away?

Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for writing in. Increased frequency, discomfort, burning sensation while urination all are signs of infection. It could be routine UTI or STD. But as you are not sexually active STD can be ruled out. If UTI, urine analysis with culture could determine the casuative organism and appropriate antibiotic useful for treating the condition. A course of antibiotics for 7-10 days will help treating the condition.
Consult a urologist.
Best.
