Emty Stomach Bloating
I read on the Internet that to determine if a person had low stomach acid for "empty stomach bloating", the person should take a level teaspoon of bicarbonate soda in water and watch for belching. I followed that procedure and never belched or burped, etc. Is this a reliable home test to determine low stomach acid? What test can a doctor (and what type doctor), have performed to determine low stomach acid? My stomach bloating (on an empty stomach) has been happening for a year.

Bloating of stomach can be due to Irritable bowel syndrome, taking in air while chewing gums etc, allergy to wheat or dairy products or due to diet rich in fat.
Imbalance of bacteria in the gut too can cause bloating. You should consult a gastroenterologist for this.
