urinary I C

I was operated on for endometiosis a year ago. I also have constant pelvic and lower back pain that has gone on for many months and of late got worse. I often feel like my bladder area is swollen. I feel like I always need to go the toilet and it burns all the time. My lower insides feel like they are in a spasam and burning. My gyny specialist said a while ago it sounded like IC as it is linked to endometriosis. It is not terrible but draining and not letting up. Could it be IC. I dont have infection in urine samples but over the last year or so ther has always been blood.I dont want to go back to my doctor to complaine

Hi kelly
went to see my specialist last week He said my main pain was due to endometriosis and I need a hesterectomy now. (Do not know the spelling)
This is very difficult as we are trying for a baby, so he said he would see me in three months tim. He said the pain would make me feel like my bladder was also a problem.
He did say I most probably have IC as it is linked to endometriosis.
So I will look at ways to help this
Thanks for your help

Hi kelly
I am fortunate my doctor is very good. I just did not want to go and and complain because I had been in a year ago for an operation for endometriosis. My dodcor was keeping a close eye on me because every urine sample she took had blood in it.
I have been back to her and she has got me an appointment with the endometriosis specialist. She belives I Iwill need another operation. I still think this problem is linked to the bladder but it will be interesting as to how the specialist see it. He did at one point think i also had IC.
I will still try natural remidies for IC
I hope they get to the bottom of it
Thanks

Hey Jayne

You have every right to go and see a doctor. I am suffering similar problems and I have been dismissed by a doctor but I'm going to see another one ASAP as I know my body. I felt like I was whinging but if I don't ask the question it's never going to go away.
Please see someone really soon and persist with it because your symptoms are persisting with you.

Jayne,
We are not supposed to post links openly on the forum, so to pm me means to click on my user name and use the option to send me a message.  Notes are also open,
but messages are private.  I can send you the info in a private message.

Personally I feel better after a bath however, the chemicals you use to clean out the tub, your soap, or anything you put in the water can make you worse!  It is important to use only very natural and soothing things, Dove Sensitive soap, no bleach or lysol in the tub. If I do use those things I have to wait a while and really really rinse the tub... any residue will irritate.  I us only unscented detergents on my close, and even us a tiny drop along with Borax to clean out the bath tub.  Then I add baking soda to make the water more soothing.  If you are on city water and it had much bleach in it, that could also cause your problems.

IC is definitely worse at different times of the month and when can vary between patients. I am worse during my cycle and also when I ovulate.

It is important to know if you have IC before getting pregnant!  Though honestly some patients find that their IC symptoms disappear during the pregnancy, in the labor and delivery period etc. it is important to know and be more cautious.  If you are trying to get pregnant MAKE SURE, you tell any doctor you go to this, so they can
be careful with the medications or treatments they prescribe,

Again, click on my name above, and choose to send a message.  I can then send you the links and info, to help you! Actually I will send you a message real quickly.  It is in the middle of the night and I just got up to take meds, so am going back to bed!!

Thanks for your reply.
I would like some links and articles that will help me whilst I wait. I will go back to my doctor.
could you tell me are the symptoms usually worse after a bath?. I would of thought they would be better but I was very sore inside after a bath that I avoid it now. It sound really stupid. Is IC worse at certain times in the month?
I have also put off going tpo the doctor because we are giving it one last try with trying to have a baby and i will go for an IUI next month, seeing specialists at this time could be tricky. i dont know what you mean when you say pm?
thanks

HI I have IC and am the director of MOARK IC an IC support group here in Missouri and Arkansas.

Patients with IC often have other things liked endometriosis , IBS,  Vulvadynia, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction etc.  It would be a good idea to have your doctor refer you to a urologist, esp. one who treats IC.  I also let them know the pain level and severe burning you are experiencing, ask them to get you in as soon as they can!

If you want to pm I can give you some links to articles on self-help things, that can help you cope with the symptoms UNTIL you can get into the doctor.  The doctor is right you are going to need to go into a physician.  There are many treatments to help with the IC pain however you need a doctor to rule out other problems, as well a set up a protocol for you treatment.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

I know that IC is inflamation of the bladder. I had an operation for endometriosis and the symptoms got better, but the burning when I go to the toilet and the constant feeling of needing to go never went awy. I aslo feel like my bladder area and down below is swolen and for a year now I have had blood in my urine.  This month the symptoms have never gone away. I just did not want to go back to my doctor because I have been seen for endometriosis and been operated on. I did not want to make a fuss but I am now climbing the walls due to the constant symptoms. My doctor was considering sending me to a urologist due to the blood in my urine that does not have infection. The symptoms are like a urine infection though
Kindest regards

Hi,

Please let us know what you understand by the term IC?

The complaints that you have listed here are characteristic of endometriosis and therefore it needs continued medical attantion. If you do not want to go to this doctor, you may try a different doc, but you may have to get medical atention for your condition.

Hope this helped.
