Vitamin D Deficiency

I recently went to the doctor because I was having sever muscle, back, and hip pain especially at night.  It was so bad I couldn't sleep or when I did manage to fall asleep, the pain woke me back up a few hours later.  The doctor tried a Medrol pack, anti-inflammitories, and Flexiril.  Nothing has help.  She did send me for bloodwork and it came back that I had a Vitamin D level of 5.  She prescribed 50000 units 2x a week and referred my to a hematologist because my platelets were also low (101,000).  I am still in alot of pain.  My doctor is on vacation and the other doctor in her practice does not believe that Vitamin D Deficiencies cause pain (yes, that is exactly what I was told).  The hematologist referred me back to my regular doctor for the pain as he was brought in for a different issue.  What do I do?

I understand how you feel. I have had Vit D defiences also and I also have pain. But My pain is not related to the defiency. I would ask your dr. to order a xray , and then if that shows nothing to go for a MRI of the area that is in pain. You could have a slipped disc, a herniated disc, or even arthritis of the spine. I beleive your pain is real but unrelated to the Vit D def. Is your pain in lower back, mid back?
