Diminished smell

I recently have experienced a diminished sense of smell after a sinus infection.  I can still smell something’s but have a hard time smelling what I’m eating.  I also have a B12 deficiency.  The infection is gone and I can breath through my nose but I can’t enjoy what I’m eating due to lack of smell.  Will this get better?  How long?

Your smell of sense diminishes? Really? I have never really thought about this at all. But I guess it always depends on our experiences. Thanks, Paxiled for that remedy. This forum is really very helpful. I could never find this online!

That could be the problem.  You might try going to the refrigerated section of the best health food store in your area and buy a multi-spectrum probiotic and see if it helps any.  Antibiotics can mess with some people, and they always kill off beneficial organisms as well as the ones you want to target.  They're not usually used for sinus infections, as they go away on their own usually.  It could obviously be something that happened to your nasal area from the sinus problem, but it is a possibility it was a reaction to what the antibiotics did inside your body.  Another way to see if this is the case is to eat fermented and cultured foods, such as kim chi and pickles and sauerkraut and the like.  These foods are really good food for probiotics and can help you replenish what was lost.  Just an idea.

Yes,  I did 10 days of amoxicillin and then 10 days of cefuroxime.
