Chalky taste/smell after taking Alpha Lipoic Acid and Magnesium Glycinate

I started a new diet regimen and I am taking a lot of supplements. Recently I noticed a chalky taste/smell in my mouth after taking them after a meal. By taking them one at a time throughout the day, I determined that the cause was either my Alpha Lipoic Acid (1200 mg) or my Acetyl L Carnitine (1000 mg). I switched brands for both of those and the problem persisted. Next, I broke the vitamins into two daily doses so that I wouldn’t take them both at the same time. After only taking the Alpha Lipoic Acid with magnesium in the morning I am still experiencing the issue. Is this safe? Would anyone know what is going on? Thanks.
