How did this problem begin

I had my 2 cervical fusion surgery 2 years ago
and have not had a voice since?I have seen
3 different ENT"s and they all say I have a vocal
fold bowing problem. They do not come together
properly and bow in center.I can scream
as hard as I like but only a whisper comes out
and it is a terrible voice that I have. They have
suggested  moving my voice box. They tell me
I will never sing and I may not like the voice I
get.Anyone else out there have this problem?
Thanks,

I have not let them do surgery on me because,
I of another fusion that the doctor says that I will
have to give into.My ENT wants to move my voice
box,but I am worried that If he moves it and I do
have the next fusion what will be left for me.My
ENT has already told me my voice will not be back
to my old self but rather what he is able to improve it is
what I have will just be it,whatever it sounds like.
I am glad I found someone that has a voice problem
that I can talk to.Oh I also was told my problem is
Vocal fold paralysis.

I'm glad to have finally found a forum to discussion my vocal cord problem. I had surgery on March 9, 2010 to remove my thyroid, and my life has not been the same since. I have been diagnose with Bilateral Vocal Cord Paralysis, it's difficult to talk, breath, and swallow. My ENT now wants me to consider having additional surgery, either a tracheotomy or arytenoidectomy, neither is a good choice for me. I'm planning to get a second and third opinion. From what I've been researching there is not many alternatives to this condition other than the two I listed. Does anyone know of any other procedures that are less evasive?
