Yes, I've reached a goal, only to fall back out of it.  It's so easy to revert back to old ways, which is why we have to make the small changes that we can actually live with over the long term, as we go along

I never had a weight problem until my thyroid whacked out on me in 2007 (not diagnosed until 2008) and since then, I've had a horrible time losing.  I sometimes bounce back and forth, as much as 5-6 pounds/day...... it's very frustrating.  Read  some of my Sunday Weigh in posts and you'll see the frustration I deal with sometimes.  I'm right here with you.

Currently, being very careful with what I eat, walking 3-5 mi/day and not losing an ounce, sometimes, even gaining (pounds, not ounces)....... yep, that's frustrating.

Thank you, I appreciate that but I'm pretty well set (I hope) regarding the diet, er, eating habits I've been using.  The trick will be once I reach goal to incorporate those habits into a life time 'change' rather than reverting back.  That's been my downfall each and every time I've gotton down to a "fighting" weight and become fit in that I fall back out of it.  Makes me mad.  How about you, have you ever reached a goal only to fall back?  I bet most of us have.

Well good luck to you and enjoy your day!

Try "The Flex Diet" by Dr James Beckerman, who is a cardiologist here on MedHelp.  He's also go some really good journals; if you're interested, I'll help you find them.

Start by making small changes to your diet, such as cutting out sodas and replacing them with water, or stop eating sweet sugary foods; replace them with veggies and protein.

Don't look at it as a "diet"........  a diet is simply what you eat and may be good or not.  Just start eating moderate amounts of healthy foods, such as vegetables, lean meats, low/no fat dairy, whole grains, nuts, seeds, etc.  Limit fruit to one or two servings/day, since most fruits have quite a bit of sugar.  Try to stick with high fiber fruits, such as apples or pears.

Make sure you get adequate exercise.  Start slowly with something simple, such as walking or yoga then gradually build up.

I neglected to mention the idea of exercise and how important it is.  It cannot be overstated how needed physical activity is regarding weight loss/management and long term overall health.

If your financial situation allows, there are good meal replacements out there to help make smaller meals easier, but please ensure you have one or two 'regular' meals a day including vegetables.

In my humble opinion, the vegetables you choose should not be a grain such as corn...

Cocoa1246, I to was at one point "frozen" with not knowing where to start.  I am no expert and I hope someone with much more knowledge and experience than I have helps you soon.

Not knowing your health challenges or your current weight or fitness level I can only offer a general insight.

One thing that has helped me in the past and that has been used very successfully by many people is the idea of eating small meals five or six times a day,  A lean protein portion about equal to or slightly smaller than your hand minus the fingers, then a carb portion equal to or slightly smaller than the size of your fist would be the ideal 'meal" every few hours.  At least once a day add a vegetable, green/yellow/orange, etc...

The idea comes from the "Body for Life" program, the nutrition side of it.  You can google it or whatever.

Best of luck to you.
