A good diet and anything that keeps you moving will probably help you lose weight...
couldn't agree more! I hate "working out" at the gym, I get so bored. But i love playing racquetball!
I know, I always chime in with the same thing, but folks, calories isn't the main measure of whether you're going to gain weight or not. Focusing on it won't get you where you want to be in the long term. How food metabolizes in your system, how quickly what you eat turns to sugar and then stores as fat, is more important. Calories is one factor in you weight. Eating fewer calories won't necessarily lead to long-term weight loss, nor will eating less fat necessarily do it either. Some fat promotes weight loss because it helps food move efficiently through the system, while other fats will lead to weight gain. All fat isn't equal. It's also not necessary to formally exercise to maintain a good weight, what's necessary is to move. Being sedentary has become a modern lifestyle and is a large factor in the increase in obesity. If you walk or bike most places you go to, and if you move around at work or at home, that's better than sitting around all day and trying to then undo that by one binge of exercise at some point in the day. We exercise because of our sedentary lifestyles and if you have a desk job, there's not much you can really do about that and those are the best paying jobs, so in that case, regular exercise will be important. But moving is the key.

Losing weight is something that there are some known ways that will help most people but all people are individual in their response. It's obvious that eating less, eating the right things and exercise should lead to weight loss for most people. I'm not a fan of fad dieting or anything extreme and like a more healthy overall life style approach so that it can be maintained. Sometimes starting with one thing to eliminate from your diet is a good place to start.
Having a work out partner such as a good friend you meet for walk or an exercise class or at the gym or pool or whatever is helpful to keep you on track and motivates you because it is then also social besides just the drudgery of your work out plan.
luck to all
