Abdominal surgery and stomach vaccum

Dear all,

I had recently two abdominal surgery by coelioscopy followed by an incision hernia repaired with a mesh.
My surgeon allowed my to swim one month after and even run 6 months after the surgery. But he said it will always remain more fragile and that I should avoid holding heavy weigh and abdominal gainage.
I was doing stomach vaccum before.
Would this practice be allowed or should be avoided?

Thanks a lot for help
Marianne

It seems like it might be acceptable, because it's done slowly and not abruptly, and it's considered a good exercise. But to be sure you aren't risking damage, ask your surgeon. If you think he doesn't know what that exercise is, send him the question by email and include a link to a YouTube video of someone doing a stomach vacuum. That way you can be sure he has given a correct answer based on full information.
