Sunday Weigh In June 21, 2020

Good morning.  How is everyone doing this morning?  I'm kind of late posting again this morning, but so it goes.  :-)  It's a beautiful day, but looking like it's going to be stifling hot (again).

It's been a busy week for me... we've been trying to finish up with the construction project we started last weekend.  We're building a new pantry area and last week, we got the new pantry/cabinets installed, so the next step was to find pull out drawers to go inside... we all know that when something gets put to the back of a 24" deep cabinet, it won't see the light of day again for some time, without an easy way to access it.  At least, that's my experience.  :-)

Looking pull out drawers, we found that the ones that looked nicest and were strongest, were prohibitively expensive, so we decided to build our own.  Since husband and I, both do woodworking, this should be no problem, right?  Well it really wasn't a "problem", just time consuming.  Husband did the "building" part and I put the finish on them.  Of course, we all know how exciting it is to watch paint (in this case, poly acrylic) dry.  :-)  I worked on 2 pull outs at a time, which helped it go faster, but you simply can't rush that drying process, even with a fast drying product.  Anyway, it's taken all week to get 6 larger drawers and 3 small ones completely finished.  Then of course, we didn't have (and couldn't buy locally) some of the rails we needed so husband had to order those online.  With the slow mail service, these days, they just arrived yesterday so he's in the process of installing them now.  Hopefully, the project should be completed today, with the exception of a couple of pieces of trim molding... The cabinets turned out really nice, but I'm glad it's nearing completion.

Anyway, that's kept me busy all week so I haven't had time to "sit around", for sure.  I mentioned last week that I had new thyroid blood work done and my levels are actually below the reference ranges, but since my TSH was "in range", my endo is happy with them and all set to leave my dosage as it is.  I did get to tell the nurse when she called, that I'm not feeling very well and have all the same symptoms I had when the endo changed my med (and dosage) 6 weeks ago, only worse.  She called me back the next day saying that he's agreed to add 1/2 of extra pill/week, which is pretty useless for this type of medication.  I find it frustrating that doctors never deliver this type of information themselves, so you can't speak directly to them.  Pointing out and discrepancies or issues to the nurse is useless because no matter how much they listen, there's nothing they can do except relay information back to the doctor (who has already formed his/her opinion and is no longer receptive).

Anyway, because of my low hormone levels, I've been gaining weight steadily, plus other symptoms have been showing up... Of course, they won't be alleviated simply by increasing 1/2 pill/week.

I've been trying to decrease the amount I'm eating and change "what" I'm eating in a effort to lose some of the weight I've gained recently due to having too low thyroid hormone levels and as of day before yesterday, I'd managed to drop a pound, but since my weight fluctuates so greatly, it could easily be back by now.  I haven't weighed yet this morning, so will do so later and post gain/loss later.

So, now, husband is waiting for me to help install the last of the pull outs, so off I go...
I hope you had a great week and were able to reach all your goals.

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful successful week~~

Good for you getting the cabinets and pull-out drawers done! And sorry about the lame prescription for only an extra half pill, that sounds like it's not going to help much.

We finally have a good scale -- it has both an analog dial and digital, and the numbers even light up when you step on it (so I don't need my glasses to read it). I'm going to call the weight on it now as a new start point, since we gave our old scale to the Goodwill and there is no way to know how much it matches. Based on having the new scale for about a half a week, it's clear that my weight fluctuates day to day by as much as two pounds. The relationship is direct and unfortunately immediate: when I'm careful about everything I eat, my weight is down a pound or more in the morning, and if I relax and eat junk or sweets, it goes up immediately. At least the good news is, it does go down if I am vigilant about what I eat.

So, new start. We'll see how motivating the new scale winds up being!
