So .. finally we meet again!  Sorry about last week but everyone is doing better now.  Grandma is 100 and we can still reminisce about many a Thanksgiving and special memories when I, as the oldest, got to graduate from the "kids table" to the "adult table".  

She also made aprons out of dish towels for ALL the women/girls and it made us all feel special.  Learned much of how to cook from her with special Sunday dishes .. and have adapted them to healthier versions.  The food is still good and no need to give up flavor .. but the main treat was the togetherness.

How is everyone doing?  Know some will be joining late tonight .. so if you're here .. just jump in.  This is your time to talk about whatever you'd like.

Sorry for jumping in kind of late. Feeling a bit under the weather, but I'm starting to feel a little better. I have to go to the hospital so they can run a lower bowel series on me. Yippi ki ya, can hardly wait. LOL  Plus they want to give me another endoscopy. Nothing but fun. I just want to wish everyone a happy thanksgiving and lots of luck on our new challenge.

Well, it looks like many people were busy tonight and that happens as we try to keep up with our "to do" lists, families, work and obligations.

Hope you all found time to get a little exercise in today ... and remember ...  a little is better than none and you can incorporate it into your day to day routine.  Park a little further, take the stairs, bend over to pick up the laundry a few more times than normal, skip to your car, take a break and walk for 10 minutes to get some fresh air.  

With Thanksgiving next week, we'll postpone next week's Live Chat and schedule it again for Tuesday, December 2nd.

In addition, I opted for lower caloried chocolate options .. as I love chocolate!  SF pudding for 50 calories and Wells Blue Bunny fudgesickles for 35 calories each.  Hershey's also makes chocolate sticks for about 65 calories.  I like dark chocolate and it actually has some health benefits.

Well ... if I may and with all due respect ... and from having been there ... we are only hiding from our self and we really don't do that all that well.  In "hiding" .. I allowed myself to blossom to a very unhealthy 330 lbs.  My knee popped and I had to use crutches, my triglycerides were way out of whack, I developed asthma type breathing difficulties and sweat profusely with any movement.

May I suggest that perhaps you do not give up chocolate .. and allow me to suggest something you may be able to live with.

Consider buying a small bag of Dove chocolate pieces and then entrust them to someone "outside" the home and just simply get one a day or every other day.  You can even put a 1/2 tsp of peanut butter on top of it to get that peanut butter and chocolate taste.

That will fit into your calories and you will not feel "deprived" as you can have it daily.  You can learn control over it when you do not "have" to have it daily and can choose to have it only when you truly want it.

Journaling was key to me when I started and is again any time I need to watch what I am doing more closely.

I have been trying to eat more veggies and fruit/drink some health drinks I purchased from a local Sam's store (drink 1 oz daily) and a number of vitamins/supplements.  My weakness is chocolate.  Peanut butter and chocolate are even better.

I think the bytes of info come as I dip into various wells/pools of info. nightly as time allows.  Yesterday was basically bust because I was in so much pain.  I should probably try to track what I eat as well as the poundage to compare where I have come from.  Sometimes, I want to hide and not see it so stark in front of me.

Why hello and so very nice to hear from you.  You bring up a very wise and wonderful option as well .. the "little bytes" ... and that is truly how they do this in Europe.  Intuitive eating .. knowing a craving or food desire is satisfied in 3-4 bites.

Sooo sorry to hear of your trip to the hospital and hope you'll be getting better real soon.  It is true about being healthier in dropping the excess weight ... I stopped to figure out that my weight was like carrying TWO bales of hay on my back all the time .. 24/7.  When I was young and in shape, it was a lot of work and very heavy to lift just one.

How do you get yourself to eat "little bytes"  and stopping there?

Hi!  Sounds like neat experiences. Thank you for sharing.  My husband likes to cook special dishes.  I enjoyed baking sweet breads, cookies, casseroles, etc...all the things that put on pounds.  It seemed like a chore to learn new ways of cooking with all the other things to learn.  Maybe it is time to focus more on the "little bytes" of knowledge.

I am better after some severe back pain yesterday that made it hard to move & bend.  Ended up in the hospital early a.m. as it was too hard to sleep and get up to go to the bathroom.  I will be glad to drop the excess weight to be healthier.  I missed work today because of the pain in my back & front.
