Stuff Yourself with WHAT????

There are times when we feel hungrier than others and need to eat more volume to be satisfied.

There are times when those who are fighting emotional eating give in to food as a way to medicate their feelings.

There are also times when those who are fighting binge episodes, grab for the food and eat until they are full and feel satiated.

NO ONE battling these behaviors is successful 100% of the time.  So, in our journeys we need to fight changing our behaviors and, when a set-back occurs, make the best choices we can.

Then, forgive yourself, learn the lesson from that event and continue working towards making these episodes further and further apart while striving to understand and change the behaviors behind them.

TODAY - We want to come up with some foods that you can eat a lot of .. filling foods .. that will be the most beneficial to us during these times.  For instance, if I KNOW I am going to eat a lot .. then I choose lower calorie, high volume foods.  Let's brainstorm together and see what we can come up with.

I love almonds when I am having that craving, or also drinking some crystal light if I am wanting something sweet. We are trying to keep more fresh fruits and veggies in the house that I can just grab and eat. I am one of those bingers....:(

I will eat a serving of Activia yogurt, a flavorful cup of tea (I have loads of different types and flavors), a handfull of almonds or walnuts, one or two slices of cheese with low fat crackers, cucumbers (love crunch) - plain or with a bit of vinegar, or a serving of fruit.  I'm trying to create a habit whereby I drink a glass of waer whenever I think I'm hungry and hope that will help.

For filling foods I frequently reach for veggies.  I don't like dip, I just like the veggies themselves. This is especially true for me if I am fixing dinner and want to nibble away (knowing in my mind that nibble after nibble of dinner really adds up), so at those times I will place my veggies of choice right next to the stove and gobble them with wild abandon.  Things like celery sticks, baby carrots, radishes, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, etc.  This way I can get something in and not feel as hungry a little farther down the line when dinner is actually ready and I eat less with dinner.

I love those new Smart Food popcorn baggies. They sell them in Target in a pack of 5 for like 3.39. They are filled with fiber (5gr) and they fill u up in just one bag. Plus they are sweet and salty at the same time, and I know I crave that type of stuff. They come in 3 flavors. Honey multigrain, Cranberry Almond and one of my favorites when craving chocolate, Carmel and Chocolate cookie. Yummm!!! They are all about 100-120 calories and have I beleive less then 3gr of fat.
