Good morning... how is everyone doing this morning? It looks like it's going to be another of our usual summer days, here - hot, hotter and hottest... It's already 81° and there's not a breath of breeze outside so it's stacking up to be pretty stifling.
There isn't much going on in my world... I'm still waiting for pathology from my colonoscopy on the 16th... I'm not sure how long it will take to get that back.
I did see my neurologist and he ordered some blood work to see if we can determine a cause of the severe muscle cramps I've been having. I'll get that done next week. He also prescribed a new medication for the cramps, but I doubt I'll be on it for very long as 2 of its side effects are weight gain and tiredness - the 2 things that I have the most trouble with. Although the cramps are definitely less than they've been, the tiredness is almost overwhelming. The weight issue is "to be determined" but not looking good... It's been pointed out to me that the medication I take for cholesterol also causes muscle pain and cramps, so I'm going to bring that up to my doctor(s) and see if there's something I can replace that with...
I'll also be having new thyroid blood work to see what/if anything the new (minuscule) increase has done... it sure hasn't done anything to help the way I feel, but I know if my TSH level is "in range", my endo is going to say it's fine, regardless of how I feel. I'm trying to come up with my own plan of action in case this happens...
I've been trying to cut back on the amount of food I'm eating and I have started going for an evening walk again, though it's difficult with the heat. I haven't been walking since my neighbor left in April and I can tell how out of shape I've become... it doesn't take much to get out of breath and the muscles in my legs are definitely feeling it.
So - diet and exercise-wise, I think I'm going "better", even if not totally satisfactory. I haven't weighed today, but yesterday when I weighed, I was up 3.9 lbs from last week, but earlier in the week, I'd been down a pound, so it's really hard to say what's going on. The trend is, obviously, up...
My short term goal is to simply stop the gain; of course, the long term goal is to start losing again. Looking back over my weight tracker, I've gained right at 20 lbs in the past year... although most of it is due to hypothyroidism, it's totally unacceptable.
So - what about you? I hope you've reached whatever goals you set for yourself for this week.
~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~
