Sunday Weigh in December 19, 2021

Good morning.  I hope everyone is off to a good start this morning.  It's pretty cloudy here and I think we're supposed to get some rain.  The good news is that it's also 70° and getting warmer, so although wet, it won't be cold.

I've have kind of a busy week.  I had my cardiology appointment on Wednesday.  That was a follow-up to the echochardiogram the week before.  Unfortunately, I still have some issues; fortunately, they aren't causing any trouble right now and the cardio was very happy with my echo.

I've also been working on Christmas cards and attended a calligraphy study group.  I think I'm finished with all my Christmas cards, except the one I'm working on right now.  It's pretty time consuming when you try to make them yourself, as I've done this year, but it's kind of fun designing the artwork and coming up with nice phrases to put on them.   Unfortunately, I didn't have time to make them all - I'd have to have gotten started in April to do that, so some people did have to get purchased cards.  I've got most of my shopping done, except for a couple of last minute items - one in particular is a good friend who has everything under the sun and if she wants something else, she gets it!!  Yeah, what do buy that person, when they're like I am and don't want to spend time dusting knick knacks??  Anyway, I'll think of something, even if it ends up being a gift card!!

Anyway, I do stay busy and you'd thing with all that "activity" I should be losing weight like crazy.  Again, unfortunately, that's not the case, but fortunately, I haven't gained any either, which leaves me almost where I was last week and the week before.  I just entered my weight into my tracker and oops!!  I'm actually down by 0.4 lbs, which is, basically, where I've been.   Anyway, I'm hoping to start going down some more, but we'll have to see about that.  I know most people say that diet is the majority of weight control, but that doesn't hold true for me, unless I starve myself... I have to get that exercise to use up calories or all I do i spin my wheels.

Anyway, this coming week will be another busy one.  I have a calligraphy meeting tomorrow, which includes a pot luck luncheon, so I have to make a dish for that today.  And of course, I have to finish getting ready for Christmas.  Daughter and her significant other will be here on Christmas Eve, so I'll be cooking a light dinner that night.  Christmas Day will just be husband and myself and I plan to cook a regular Christmas dinner for us.

I hope this finds everyone doing well and successful at meeting your goals.

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

**Stay safe and wash your hands**  (even more important now, with the new Omicron variant making itself known around the country.)

Still don't know how I'm doing weight-wise compared to a couple of weeks ago; the orthopedist took off the cast they gave me in the ER today, and they X-rayed me and put me into a lighter one. I assume I lost a few ounces with that! lol

The good thing is that this allows me to type again without accidentally clunking my big cast onto the "option" key and inverting words. It was slow going last week, what with the necessity to correct every line I wrote.

Generally speaking I wouldn't be surprised if my weight did see a little drop. I was being pretty immobile (though what's broken is the upper radial bone in my arm, my hip and leg hurt the most, and it's really hard to walk). I haven't been cooking for a week and haven't been very  hungry  because of such low activity. (Mostly what I want to do at home is lie down, not eat.) I'll know more about what happened to my weight in a couple of weeks.

Having an arm in a sling at Christmas puts a damper on most holiday things. We got over to the new house with a small artificial tree that looks like birch with built-in lights, and put it in a window that can be seen from two streets, and put up a lit wreath (both tree and wreath on timers). This minimalist Christmas effort will be it, for the new house. Our outside decor at the house by the school is lovely, though I wouldn't fall off a ladder again for it. We'll be moving to the farm for the holiday on Wednesday, and we'll put up a Christmas tree there. I think now I can probably address Christmas cards and maybe even print out a little Christmas note. (But it had better be short!) Those would have to go in the mail tomorrow.

One good thing about my appetite being less is that I'm also not craving things high in junk calories (sometimes at this time of year I just eat at the drive-through and rush right on). Cross fingers that this pattern stays.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

Annie
