Sunday Weigh in January 22, 2023

Good morning.  I hope everyone is having a good day, so far.  It's looking like it's going to be a beautiful day, here - bright and sunny, with a high near 80°... I do feel for anyone in the areas having inches of snow and sub-zero temperatures.  I hope you can stay inside where it's warm.

It's been a busy week here, but I don't seem to have accomplished a whole lot.  I guess most of my time was involved with calligraphy related things - a monthly meeting on Monday, a Study Group on Thursday and an expo yesterday at a new Community Center that's opening in our county.  It's a beautiful building and seems to have everything a community center could conceivably have, including an art room, library, gym (complete with treadmills, stationary bikes, etc) as well as a gymnasium for playing basketball and other sports.  It even includes an enclosed walking "path", surrounded by glass so it "feels" like you're outside.  Unfortunately, it's about 45 minutes from where I live so not very convenient.  My calligraphy guild will begin classes there next month, so I'll be able to see more of it.

Being in meetings, study groups, etc isn't real conducive to getting the exercise I need, but I'm still stuck with the boot on my foot, so not supposed to be doing a lot anyway.   I think I mentioned last week that I've discovered a few simple movements I can do with my boot on that don't put a lot of pressure on my foot, so I've been doing those most days.

I haven't really changed the way I eat - it's hard to do that with a husband who only wants meat and potatoes - though I do try to add some veggies every day, even though I have to eat them myself.  So, I've managed to lose another 0.8 lbs.  I don't usually count tenths of a pound, but 0.8 loss is better than a gain, so I'll take it.  :-)   I'm down a total of 7 pounds from my highest weight back in November, so although I have a long way to go, I'm pretty happy with that.  I'm hoping I can maintain the downward trend.

So that's my story - how was your week?  I hope it went well and you were able to reach whatever goals you might have had.  I look forward to hearing about them.

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

I couldn't weigh yesterday, so did this morning. I'm in the same bracket since last week -- up .1 of a pound over last Sunday's weigh-in. A scale that weighs in the tenths of a pound is not really that helpful because it's so sensitive that just sighing can cause my weight to vary, but it's also not surprising that the end result would be slightly up -- we've had an odd week for food, including my son and I eating almost a full meal at 2:30 am on Saturday night. I usually only weigh once a week so I don't have to watch my weight wiggle around, and only do a Sunday followed by a Monday when something has been off about food (such as, a hugely salty meal). This week, everything has been off about food, except, of course, Coastal Kale Salad. (That stuff is great.) So we'll see what happens next week.

I bought a bottle of Bragg's Liquid Aminos to use in soups or salads, but haven't opened it yet. They might have a great product, but their packaging leaves a lot to be desired -- instead of looking like a bottle of high-end soy sauce, it is more close in appearance to a bottle of fish fertilizer or houseplant food. I'm sure it's tasty and expect it will be useful, but there really are good ways to package food, and it would be nice if they would learn a few. Will report back as I learn to cook with it.

My son's sleep patterns were pretty disrupted as we came back from the long Christmas break, and we're still affected by his difficulties sleeping (and then problems getting up in the morning). It's finals week, which doesn't help his stress level, and last night he couldn't sleep until 3:30. It was like prying him out of bed with a crowbar to get him off to school today, and now I've got a whopper of a headache and want nothing more than to go to bed myself. He and I need to work out how a teenager can get to sleep who just isn't good at sleeping at night.

I hope everyone has a great week!
