This formula shows you 'roughly' how many calories your body needs to maintain its current weight - so to lose weight you have to eat less calories per day....
What is your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)?
Basal Metabolic Rate =Ideal Body Wt in lbs. X 13 calories per day.
So for me it 150lbs x 13 = 1950
What is your Activity Caloric Level (ACL)?
If you are bedridden, find 10% of your BMR.
If you are moderately active, find 30% of your BMR.
If you are very active, find 50% of your BMR.
So for me 30% of 1950 = 585
What is the sum of your BMR and your ACL?______
This is the number of calories your body needs daily to maintain your present weight.
So for me it is 2535.
So any day I eat less than 2535 calories I should be losing weight - give the formula a go and see what your result is.
Remember to lose 1lb you have to either eat 3500 calories less or burn off an extra 3500 to normal. Also don't forget if you don't eat enough calories your body will go into starvation mode and conserve every ounce of fat/glycogen it can. You have to get the balance right.
How tall are you, how old are you, and how much do you weigh? You can pm me if you don't feel like sharing on the forum, but I'd really need to know those things.
I can tell you straight away that 1300 cals a day for someone who runs daily is not very much, but without knowing anything else, I can't make any other comment.
