Well today I went to go grab a cookie and said no to myself
It really helps if you don't buy them, which can be hard when there is so much at the grocery store! What I try to so is stay away from the middle of the grocery store where all the packaged food and snacks full of empty calories are shelved! Try to eat more filling things at meal times. Sometimes when you feel like snacking, your body thinks it's hungry when you're actually feeling thirsty or bored. It helps to drink a cup of water before reaching for the chips or whatever it is you're craving! Try to plan things to do during your day to keep you out of the kitchen where all the tempting treats are! Having said this, it's important to listen to your body -- sometimes your body does need more fuel. Instead of going for snacks opt for something healthier ( there are tons of healthy snacks you can make yourself -- and honestly anything you make yourself will be way healthier than anything you may buy at the store.
It's also important to know why unhealthy snacks are bad for you. Here's why;
- they're full of empty calories, this means you need to eat more of it to feel full and not long after you finish it, you'll still be feeling hungry!
- they taste good and are easy/ quick! Remember there are other healthier options that taste equally as good or better, that are just as easy to prepare ( try googling some)
Remember that it's absolutely ok to eat snacks occasionally, it's when you eat a lot of them (ex. Daily or more ) that it becomes an unhealthy habit
