12 Weeks of bleeding

I am 27 years old.  I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and we are desperately wanting more.  We have been trying since the birth of our daughter but nothing is working.  In August 2010 I was going on 8 weeks of extremely heavy bleeding. My OBGYN did lots or testing, I had loads of blood work done and eventually had to have a D&C. After the procedure I was told that he removed finger-like growths in my uterus that were allowing extra blood to come into my uterus, hence why my period was so heavy and for a long period of time.  It has been over a year since then and I am now going on over 13 weeks of bleeding.  At times it is so light you wouldn't even know it was there and now it has gotten heavier.  Mostly when I do to much.  Exercising, heavy lifting, sex or even what I use the restroom.  I go back to the Doctor on the 15th but I don't know what to do anymore.  My mom had a complete hysterectomy in 2009 after finding endometriosis and uterine cancer. I'm getting scared and not sure what to think anymore. Does anyone have any advice or have they had anything happen like this before? I'm beginning to think that I can never have another child and that thought kills me.

Hello,
It can be due to menometrorrhagia. Prolonged and abnormally heavy menstrual bleeding is called menorrhagia. This condition is called menorrhagia. Normally the period stays for 3-7 days and comes in 21 to 35 days. However sometimes normal periods can be irregular. The causes of menorrhagia could be due to bleeding disorders, vitamin K deficiency, excess usage of aspirin, hormonal imbalance, stress, fibroids, recent intra uterine devices (like copper-T)etc. So I will like to advi9se for internal examination with gynecologist and take opinion.

I hope it helps. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
