Abnormal Pap--HELP

I had an abnormal pap result recently. My GYN called me saying she found some precancerous cells. She wanted to do some further testing to decide what is really going on.

I am nervous because of my family history.

What's the chance of me developing cancer???

Yep - Every pap since the surgery has come back normal - I pray that it keeps up.  It sucks cuz you go to the Dr. A LOT after you have an abnormal but once you start getting good paps again - You get to go back to every year.  I did not have cervical cancer but if I had not had it looked at when I did then I probably would have gotten it - We caught it just in time :o)

I'm sure you'll be fine - If this is your first ABNORMAL pap they probably found HPV - Human Papilloma Virus - I had that happen for the first time in 2000 and I was a nervous wreck - I was right at cervical cancer but they got all the bad cells with a LEEP (where they took the bad chunk of my cervix out) and so far they have all been normal again.  Good luck to you.  I don't know what to tell you about the lump - I hope it is nothing serious for you - Maybe that is a cyst or something.
