Anyone else in the same boat?

I am a smoker.
I am starting to hear that it is easier to get PG if I quit smoking. Both my DH and I both smoke. I have vowed that the day I became PG that I would quit. I have even been able to quit for 2 months, but because DH hasn't done it yet I seem to justify smoking till I get PG.

I know that its terrible but I need some help here. Maybe if I find out that it truely makes it harder to get PG then it might make quitting easier.

Do any of you have some words of wisdom to help me with this terrible habit?

When you smoke so does your baby, when your DH smokes and you don't you are still smoking unless DH goes outside, different room doesn't count.  If you quit, he needs to smoke outside, that's only fair, and its the only way to make sure baby has healthy environment.  tobbacco affects cilia - tiny hair like projections in the lungs and in the fallopian tubes.  In the lungs they move the junk out, in the tubes they move the egg in the right direction.  Usually start working again about two weeks after the smoking stops.  That's why usually about two weeks after stopping a bunch of nasty's come up from a smokers lungs.  Its the worst time to do surgery (2 weeks after stopping) because that stuff can block off some breathing.

Yah, I know my DH has tried to quit and goes two days...maybe three then he is smoking again.  It makes it easy for me to justify it.  He promises he will quit when I get PG but I am like you. Doubtful he will ever quit.

My DH is a smoker and he told me if we ever got pregnant that he would quit, but he has tried and then he starts again.  He doesn't smoke around me except when we are in the car and he rolls the window down.  I know it is hard to quit, but I have a feeling he won't quit ever.  My hopes are that he will when the baby is born.

I took a physiology class last semester and my professor said that it makes implantation more difficult.  Don't remember everything else he said about it but remember a few things it makes more difficult.  Also, by the time you find out you are pregnant you will be at least a few weeks along.  So you would've been smoking all that time as well.  I think I remember learning that the 1st 9 weeks are the most important.  There are certain weeks when certain things are forming and you should stay away from certain things.  I think the nervous system is forming by week 3. ( don't want to damage that)  I sold my book back about development so I couldn't tell you the days.  But I am sure you could google it and find some information.
