Anyone know about Copper IUD's?

If you've had or have a Copper IUD, can you tell me all about your experience with it?  positives & negatives.

Thanks for the info....
If you don't mind, I would like to ask you guys some questions..
Did you guys notice any changes at all with the IUD?
like frequency/heaviness with periods, discharge, sex?
do you feel it ever?

i just wanted to let you know that when i got my iud in almost 10 years ago it was about 1 month after i had my daughter, i didnt feel  a thing.
now yesterday i went to the gyn. for my annual and since i was there i figured i might as well have it changed. now i know why they tell you to go when you have your period, its pretty painful.  because they have to open your cervix alittle and since your cervix is dialted a little when you have your period its less painful. and i had 2 natural childbirths, pretty big babies too. So with that said, i'm waiting to get my period to have it changed.
just wanted to give you that little piece of info

i've had a copper iud put in after my 2nd child and that was 10 years ago., well almost it'll be 10 years i've had in jan. i love it. i nenver have to worry about taking a pill or using condoms. you feel a little cramping when the dr. inserts it. normal cramping like when you get your period. my periods have been normal, on time. i actually am making an appt. to get it removed and a new one put in.
hope it helps

My girlfriend had and IUD put in about 5-6 years ago. Way before I started dating her. I don't know if it was "copper" or not. She had it in for about a year, but had BIG problems with it. This may be an isolated incident. In her case though,(from what she has told me) when it was put in it was uncomfotable. Then a few months after when she would have sex, she would bleed heavily. When she had it removed, She told me that it was the most excruciating pain she had ever been through and that she bleed heavily for 3 months after. I am not trying to frighten you, but I thought you might like to know. Like I say, this could be just an unfortunate event strictly in the case of my girlfriend. But I would not want anyone to suffer the way she did.....

I had it put in At my 6 week check up.(4 years ago) And never had any problems. But now that I had it removed on October 31st. I have not got pregnant yet I ovulated that next 2-3 days after and did,t happen. So I will get my tubes tied instead of the IUD.
