Black spotting/trying to conceive

I use to always have a regular cycle.  My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about five months.  The first month we tried, I started spotting over a week b/f my period.  It was black and brown followed by a regular period.  Now this has been going on every month since.  I

Well, I had the same issue.  After nine months and horrible sharp pains during my cycle, I had seen three GYNs and was finally referred to an RE who actually knew what he was doing.  Turns out I had an endometeoma cyst on my right ovary (huge!) and stage three endometreosis on my bladdar, left ovary, tubes, and around the tubes.  I need a laproscopy and six months later, it's all starting again.

Hello ladies,

I've been noticing the same thing.  I generally spot a day or two before my period, but it seems like every month my husband and I try to conceive, the spotting starts even earlier (four or five days before my first day of heavy bleeding).  Also, my cycle typically tends to be on the long side (30 to 33 days on average), but during the months we've tried I've noticed that my period (i.e., the spotting) comes earlier (on a 25 to 27 day cycle).  The first couple of times I thought maybe it was just a coincidence, but three tries later I'm not so sure....  I've talked to my gynecolgist and also a friend who's an OB/GYN, but I haven't received a satisfactory explanation.  My thyroid test came back normal, and since my "short" cycles are actually within the "normal" range, neither suspects a luteal phase defect.  I share your frustration.  I keep thinking maybe I'm just paranoid, but it seems to me that something may be genuinely amiss....  This month my husband and I are going to try one of those ovulation predictor kits.  This should help to identify a luteal phase defect if that indeed is the culprit.

i'm kind of going through what you're going through.  The only difference is my hubby and i have been ttc for about 4 months...like you, my cylces are usually pretty regular.  This month, i started spotting dark brown and a little red a whole week before my period...then it almost seemed like a normal period except that it was hardly anything at all.  I took an HPT (thinking it was implantation bleeding) and it was negative.  My doctor just said sometimes this happens (getting a period early) and not to read too much into it.  Have you tried using ovulation predictor kits?  That would be a good way to see when you're ovulating.  My guess is you are ovulating, because you're getting a period...same thing with me...but i'm more worried that my luteal phase may not be long enough...i heard a luteal phase has to be at least 10-12 days long...otherwise it's hard to get pregnant.  i'll keep researching and let you know what i find out.  Best of luck to you
