Last December, I started to bleed lightly. This bleeding increased over a few months to a very heavy constant flow. I went to a gynecologist to get tests done, and was diagnosed with PCOS. I was given the pill, which didn't stop the bleeding, then the Depo shot, which didn't stop the bleeding, but lightened it a bit, and then they put in a hormonal IUD, which just caused excruciating pain at first, and didn't stop the bleeding. I was also given Metformin. Recently, I stopped bleeding for about two weeks, but then the period came raging back. My old gynecologist referred me to a different gyne because she couldn't understand my situation. My current gyne actually believes that my bleeding is somehow "normal". In what universe is bleeding for 11 months normal?
I have had a few tests done, like hormone blood work, an ultrasound, and a biopsy of my uterus, but no exploratory surgery, which I have been begging for. I'm only 27, as well, and so doctors have been refusing to give me a hysterectomy, despite me constantly begging for one. I'm sick and tired of not being listened to!
I can't help but wonder if because I'm on Medicaid, doctors see me as a poor person who is not worth their time. Or maybe it's because I'm young and appear healthy on the outside. What do I do?
