Brown discharge while on Nexplanon and after having unprotected sex

I've been on birth control(nexpanon) for about a year and a half now and since then I've had brown discharge only no periods my gynecologist told me it was because of the lining of my uterus shedding. this year in late Feb. or early Mar. i was prescribed to take doxycycline it stopped my brown discharge until about a week ago the brown discharge has returned. the last time i had unprotected sex was about a month ago so I'm concerned i might be pregnant. can anyone provide some insight?

I had mine replace for the second time in July and haven’t had any brown blood (or old blood) this time until today I didn’t notice it until I went to the bathroom but peed clear and a hour later was fine. Is it okay to have sex or have to wait?...bc we did but did the pull out method. Could I still get pregnant or is my birth control still working and won’t have to worry about it?

Hi.  Well, the pull out method isn't a method of not having a baby.  Unfortunately, it doesn't work. The penis emits sperm in small amounts during that and it's 'enough' to get you pregnant. So, file that away that you are not protecting yourself when he pulls out.  I don't, however, think that the brown discharge has to mean that your Nexplanon isn't working.  It's one of the side effects of it and not too uncommon..  So, I wouldn't really worry but keep your eye on things.  If you start to get suspicious, you can take  a pregnancy test at 2.5 weeks after you had the sex you are worried about.  If you KEEP spotting, talk to your doctor. good luck

Spotting (brown discharge) is an expected side effect with Nexplanon. It is the shedding of the lining of the uterus as your provider described to you. There is no harm with this, but some ladies do find it annoying. If you had sex, you had a reliable form of birth control in place. The risk of exposure you have is to sexually transmitted infections.

Do you know if the doxycycline was permanently supposed to stop the brown discharge or just temporarily because now my discharge is returning to the usual white color but over the course of a week and and a half I've been experiencing slight cramping, bloating (which has now stopped),and headaches, so are all of those common side affects with nexplanon even after being on the birth control for more than a year?

I haven't had my cycle since being on nexplanon. I was curious if having brown discharge was normal after taking something to treat it.
